Hey, Workie!
The Trump administration just placed a temporary ban on student visa applications to scrutinize applicants’ social media presences, and students are in an uproar because it’s throwing a huge wrench in their plans, but apparently it’s going to be brief.
In the meantime, these are some international student-friendly countries you should probably look into (budget-friendly too😉).

Dummies Guide To: Networking
Your parents not having connections doesn’t mean you’re cooked, it just means you’re going to have to be a little sharper.
I have friends who have connections all over the world, because they realized that the world is at their fingertips.
The first and most obvious thing to note is that social media is a very powerful tool. Platforms like LinkedIn are like the ultimate professional playground.
You can connect with people you've met, people you want to meet, and even people in your dream industry all from the comfort of your couch.
If you’re confused about how to make connections, note these five steps:
Utilize Alumni Networks: Connect with individuals who attended your school. They are significantly more likely to engage with you due to a shared background.
Targeted Connections: Identify your desired career path. Connect with professionals who are already successful in those specific roles or industries.
Offer Value First: Before asking for help, consider what you can offer to others. Share relevant articles, make introductions, or provide insights. This builds goodwill.
Be a Connector: Actively connect people in your network who could benefit from knowing each other. This establishes you as a valuable resource.
Nurture Relationships: Don't just collect contacts. Regularly check in, share relevant information, and maintain communication to keep your network active and strong.
P.S. Attending in-person events is also an important part of building your professional network. Yes, digital platforms like LinkedIn are incredibly effective for making connections and showcasing your professional profile, but participating in career events & and industry conferences offers unique advantages that complement your online efforts.
Speaking of Events…
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH
Festival of Change 2025
Festival of Change 2025 is happening, and it’s not your regular panel-and-powerpoint event.
It’s where students, creators, techies, and future changemakers come together to talk real stuff, like what education should look like in our time.
I’m talking:
Real & honest conversations
AI vs humans in the classroom
A hackathon solving African education problems (with prizes)
Art & music fun
Speed mentoring + career fair
Giveaways that actually make sense
And guess what? CareerBuddy (yes, me) will be there too; with answers to your burning career questions, CV templates for steal, and fun merch so you can look like a kool kid while doing serious things.
If you care about how education shapes your life (and future), and you want to be part of building what’s next… you should definitely be in the room.
